Swiss National Day, July 28th, 2018

This year’s Swiss National Day took place at Studio Square Beer garden in Long Island City on July 28, 2018. We had about 850 people attending a great party organized under the leadership of the Swiss Society of New York and under the patronage of the Swiss Consulate and supported by the Swiss Benevolent Society, the Swiss Ski Club and the Swiss Soccer Club. Big thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors making such a great event possible.

Attendees could enjoy the very well prepared Raclette, Bratwurst and Cervelats along with Swiss white and red wine. For dessert the famous black forest cake and delicious cakes were served. In the Swiss Village, all the local Swiss organizations were presenting themselves and hopefully signed up many new members. A Raffle with great prizes was held and Swiss merchandise was sold. DJ Taxi was in charge of the good atmosphere presenting his Swiss Party Tunes.

After the traditional presentation of the US and the Swiss Anthems the highlight was Ambassador Schaller’s goodbye speech followed by the children’s lampion parade. A cow milking contest attracted the young crowd along with a cow stacking game presented by Swiss Tourism.

The event concluded around 5pm. Swiss people of course wouldn’t stop a good party already at such an early time, therefore Swiss Drinks NYC organized a great after party at Anable Basin Sailing lasting until late at night.
